Cinema Europe, Europe cinemas

A Visit to Europe is Not Complete without a Trip to the Cinema

Movies are perhaps one of the most popular entertainment options in the world.  Movies are a chance for you to escape from reality.  Many people travel to Europe to do just that.  They want to escape from their day to day reality.  Why not pair the two together?  While you vacation in Europe take in some of the best film sites as well as visiting some of the best movie houses around.

London is actually thought of as one of the capitals of film.  Traditionally British films are not well known, but the city of London has quite a few cinematic highlights.  Visitors should take the time to visit Teddington Studios which has been the site of many of the greatest films.  If film premiers are more your think you might want to visit Leicester Square.  This is where many of todays cinematic premier galas are held.  However, if you want to take in a movie rather than just see cinematic locations you may want to head to the Electric Cinema on Portobello Road.  This is actually the oldest cinema Europe so for a film lover it is a must see.

True film lovers know of the Cannes Film Festival.  It is held every May in the picturesque French town of Cannes.  At this film festival juries evaluate and award the films submitted.  However, it is not so much the judging of the films that tends to draw people from far and wide to this festival. The Cannes Film Festival is one of the most star studded festivals in the world.  Celebrities from all over make it a point to attend and promote their films.  This means that you will have the opportunity to see some of the best new cinema being released along with some of your favorite celebrities in a beautiful European location.

If the Cannes Film Festival is going to be too much of a media circus for you you may want to think about visiting the city of Berlin.  Each year Berlin host the Berlin International Film Festival.  This festival is no less prestigious, but it is a little less chaotic.  This means that you will be able to really get up close and personal with the films and celebrities in attendance.  The Berlin International Film Festival also hosts big budget blockbusters and and independent films dedicated to telling the smaller stories.

Before you head to any of these European cinematic destinations you will want to be sure that you make your lodging arrangements.  There are many different types of Lodging available for European travelers, and one of the best options are holiday apartments.  Holiday apartments are more affordable than traditional hotel stays and they are more luxurious than a cheaper hostel.
