Bogotá: Where Boredom in Shopping is Bye-Bye

Boredom in shopping sets in when you shop for the same blah things, see the same blah events and patronize the same blah experience.  Well, why subject yourself to such a torture when you can visit Bogotá, shop your heart out and smile like the pampered shopaholic that you are!  To paraphrase one of their marketing blitzes, the only risk in shopping in Bogotá is the desire to stay, see and shop some more.

Yes, indeed, you will want to stay in this city after you have seen your luxurious hotel Bogota booked at reasonable prices via an online reservation site.  We suggest you book one of the many Bogota Colombia Hotels offered  online because more and more tourists are coming to Bogotá to sample the wares that the city and its people have to offer. There is luxury and cheap holiday accommodation for all kind of tastes!

Modern Wares

When shopping, keep in mind that Bogotá is one of the most advanced cities in Latin America.  As such, it is but logical to find all sorts of modern wares on the shelves of the shopping malls and department stores.  And lest we forget to mention, there are not just one, not just two but over 50 shopping malls to be found in Bogotá! The main ones are located to the north and northwest of the city although you will not want for shopping options in the other parts.

As can be expected from modern shopping malls, the services are of good quality with a few standout establishments.  Shoppers can shop to their heart's content, or until their cash and cards run out of steam, whichever comes first, with high quality goods available.

You can choose from among modern wares like fashionable clothes and décor, music and movies, jewelry and personal accessories, toys and consumer electronics, books and magazines and even cars.  And don't forget that these items are not all there are to the shopping malls of Bogotá - you can shop for products from internationally-known brands as well as regional brands in specialty shops and small boutiques.

And contrary to reports, the security in the shopping malls is topnotch.  You can shop, play games, eat and just stroll around knowing that you are in the best place in the city to be.   After all, the only risk in Bogotá is the desire, the want to stay indefinitely.

Traditional Handicrafts

And of course, let's not forget the time-honored traditional handicrafts of the people of Bogotá and the surrounding countryside.  In many ferias across the city, shoppers are treated to one-of-a-kind art and crafts goodies made form indigenous materials like straw, leather and wool.

Choose from traditional wares like tiples or guitars from Pasto, ceremonial rafts from Vaupes, the carved animals of Putumayo, the carbed wood from Choco and the feathered necklaces from the Amazon.  There are also leather and wool goods like ponchos, shoes, hats, handbags and umbrellas to take away as souvenir items.  Or better yet, to make a fashion statement the Colombian way.

And so, when you are feeling a little more risqué, head on to Bogotá and chase your shopping blues away with one of the most invigorating shopping experiences ever in Latin America.
